SCA’S FIRST ZOOM EVENT OF FALL

Christine Henry’s “Blue Highways: Where Cars and Trucks are Passengers”

Before the interstate system, mapmakers used blue to indicate waterways, rivers and lakes that were used to transport people and goods around the vast continent. In contemporary America, most people think of transportation on inland water as pleasure cruising, but there is a surprising quantity of floating commerce as well.

On October 14, 2020, Christine Henry toured SCA members through historic photos, maps, and postcards that explored the long history of one of those blue highways, shown on maps as US-10.
