10 Sep ZOOM EVENT: Christine Henry’s “Blue Highways: Where Cars and Trucks are Passengers”
SCA’S FIRST ZOOM EVENT OF FALL
Christine Henry’s “Blue Highways: Where Cars and Trucks are Passengers”
Join us on October 14, 2020, for the SCA’s first ZOOM event of the fall.
Before the interstate system, mapmakers used blue to indicate waterways, rivers and lakes that were used to transport people and goods around the vast continent. In contemporary America, most people think of transportation on inland water as pleasure cruising, but there is a surprising quantity of floating commerce as well.
Through historic photos, maps, and postcards, we will explore the long history of one of those blue highways, shown on maps as US-10. So pull up a lounge chair and go on a road trip without leaving the comfort of home. All Aboard!
