The Peter Richards Roadside Collection

A lifelong roadside scholar and enthusiast, as well as a founding member of the SCA, Peter Richards (1945-2025) could easily have been The Diner King. He began photographing all varieties of roadside entities in the 1970s and he focused on diners in New England and Georgia.
Before he died, Peter reached out to the SCA and asked to have some of his work preserved for future researchers and aficionados of the built environment.
Here are over 1,000 images that Peter took, some of which date back fifty years. The location and subject of most of the images have been painstakingly identified. The dates that Peter recorded have also been included.
The SCA is pleased to offer Peter Richards Roadside Collection to its members for fun and research.*
