Streamline Hotel

Streamline Hotel

STREAMLINE HOTEL, DAYTON BEACH, FLORIDA.

The Streamline opened in 1941 as if a Miami Beach-Moderne hotel was dropped 260 miles north in Daytona. Curved corners, glass block, porthole windows and a massive neon blade sign screamed to tourists that Modernism had arrived.

Its claim to fame came with a series of meetings that took place at the hotel in the winter of 1947-48 during which the rules and regulations of the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) were established. Fortunes faded for the Streamline, but it survived long enough to undergo a complete renovation in 2017.
