In this program, Aaron Marcavitch, executive director of Connecticut Landmarks and formerly of Maryland Milestones, presents photographs and stories he found in researching this section of US Route 1 for his Arcadia Publishing book, US Route 1: Baltimore to Washington, DC.
US Route 1 is a 2,300 mile long road is filled with the stories of daily life or travel to far away places like Fort Kent, Maine or Key West, Florida. The section between Baltimore and Washington, DC was a place of connectivity between major cities, yet filled with interesting places like the Little Tavern or the One Spot Sign.
