Frank Brusca: On the Road Again: Reconstructing Jack Kerouac’s Travels

Recorded April 13, 2022

Highway historian Frank Brusca has researched Jack Kerouac’s On the Road and has assembled very detailed accountings of when and where the Beat writer journeyed, as well as the people with whom he interacted. The end result is a collection of hundreds of period photographs, an accurate day-by-day travel record, dozens of very detailed maps, and the identities of the book’s characters. The work cites Kerouac’s original writings, as well as vintage maps and photographs, city directories, weather records, newspapers, and bus schedules.

Join Frank as he provides a snippet of the project’s output, showing visually and graphically the places and people from the original book.
