Brian Gallaugher: Apron Art
Recorded November 17, 2021
Have you ever entered a store from an early to mid-20th century main street and noticed something interesting beneath your feet? Many shop owners decorated the recessed “aprons” (entranceway floors) with mosaic or terrazzo designs, sometimes showing the street number of the building, the owner’s name, or most intriguingly, an artistic design designed to draw the customer in.
Join SCA Vice-President, Brian Gallaugher as he explores elements of this “apron art,” including technical, social and artistic aspects in his heavily illustrated virtual presentation.
