Constructed in the late 1910s, the building alternated between auto- and non-auto-related uses in its early years. In 1919 it was listed as A. A. Franklin, auto tires; in 1925, Eastern Distributors autos: Willys-Knight, overland, Peerless; and in 1940, Dunlop Tire and Rubber.
