Join us in Western, Pennsylvania, May 31 to June 4, 2023, for Amused in Allegheny: 46th Annual SCA Conference and Tours, with our local hosts and guides, ex officio board members Brian Butko and Kevin J. Patrick, PhD.
Brian Butko is the designer and copy editor of SCA Journal. A writer and popular historian for more than 30 years, Brian’s books include Greetings from the Lincoln Highway, Kennywood: Behind the Screams, The Ship Hotel: A Grand View along the Lincoln Highway, Klondikes, Chipped Ham & Skyscraper Cones: The Story of Islay’s, and with his wife Sarah Butko, Roadside Attractions, and Roadside Giants.
Kevin Patrick is the SCA’s tour guide extraordinaire. He is the author of Pennsylvania Caves and Other Rocky Roadside Wonders, and, as co-author with Brian, Diners of Pennsylvania, and Route 6 in Pennsylvania.
Our base of operations will be Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel.

- Coudersport Ice Mine: one of the oddest natural wonders in Pennsylvania
- The Spillway at Pymatuning Reservoir to feed the fish at the second most popular tourist attraction in the state
- Kinzua Bridge, a railroad trestle, 301 feet tall and 2,052 feet long, which in 2003 suffered a catastrophic collapse of 11 of its 20 towers when a tornado touched down by the viaduct. Today there is a new observation deck + visitor’s center with an exceptional view of the Kinzua valley below.
